Computers, Name Tags, and the Breakroom, Oh My!

Computers 🖥️

Please only use district computers to complete your work, i.e., online tutoring, checking appointments, filling out work forms, etc. We can't use personal laptops or iPads to do work because the district cannot ensure these devices have the latest security updates that would prevent hackers from accessing students' personal information from applications like Accudemia. To protect yourself and students, only use the Success Center's computers for work.
- You can use your own devices if you want to complete training, as long as the training is not requiring you to log into an application like Accudemia.
Log into the district computers with your portal credentials. If you get to a district computer and it is already logged in with the generic student account, log out, and log back in with your credentials.
Lock your computer if you step away from it, even for a short time in order to protect students' information (per legal obligation due to FERPA requirements) and your own professional information.
😇 Appropriate uses of district computers: Apprentice prep and participation, Accudemia, tutoring, group sessions, Zoom, Badgr, verification forms, and other work-related needs
👿 Inappropriate uses of district computers: binge watching all of the Love Island, TikTok videos, your current anime series, music videos of Chappel Roan, and other non-work-related reasons

Headphones 🎧

Headphones are needed to watch training videos, tutor students online, facilitate online group sessions, communicate with someone in Zoom, and other work-related reasons. We recommend bringing your own headphones, which can plug into the computer with a 3.5mm jack. You can also check out a pair of Success Center headphones located in Rose Ann's office. Please sign them out and back in after use.

Name tags

A Rancho Success Center name tag will be created for you. It will have a QR code on the back that you can scan if you need access to verification forms for in-person tutoring. Please wear your name tag so that students, faculty, and staff can identify you. Use the survey with your info for name tags.

Break Room

Y'all, the break room is so much nicer than it used to be, so let's keep it that way, or they (the big THEY) will shut it down. Also, ants are a seasonal problem that can be kept at bay when we keep the break room tidy. 🐜 Help keep it clean by wiping down the table after you eat, washing your dishes, and throwing away food and wrappers in the trash. 🧽 If your food or beverage explodes in the microwave, do us one and clean it up. 🌋 If something spills on the floor, do your best to wipe up the spill, and then let an Instructional Assistant or Specialist know, and we will put in a request to Maintenance to follow up.

🔔 Note: all food and drinks left in the refrigerator after 4 pm on Friday will be thrown out, regardless if it is in a nice container. Byeeee!

☕️ Finally, feel free to enjoy any tea, coffee, hot coco, or snacks that are public domain, i.e., not labeled with a name. You can use the kettle to boil water for drinks or instant noodles or brew a K-cup. You can also store your food, snacks, and drinks in either fridge...until 4 pm on Friday.
