Instructions

This assignment is designed to help you improve and practice media literacy skills such as determining the credibility of information found on the internet.  First, please review the Chaffey Library webpages on Finding Credible Websites.  You do not have to complete the tutorial, but please read the material to understand more about how to find credible websites.  Second, in this assignment, you will be given 10 cancer statements each with a reading passage that contains information about the statement.  For each statement:

  1. Read the statement and supporting information.
  2. Look for evidence from credible sites on the web that support or reject the statement, as well as any of the supporting information.
  3. Answer the following questions in the answer section of each statement in the Canvas Quiz:
    1. Do you ultimately SUPPORT or REJECT the statement?
    2. Which statements in the reading passage influenced your answer?
    3. Where did you find evidence on the internet to influence your answer? Cite the webpage, and explain what criteria you used to decide that it was a credible and trustworthy website.

I hope that this is an enriching activity for you, and as always, please contact me if you have any questions!
